STYLE GURU STYLE: The ’90s Part Two

Growing up in the ’90s, my mom still dressed me, of course. Therefore, I didn’t get to actually enjoy the fashion. Luckily for me, the styles are back! Now, since I live in Florida, my flannels have been collecting dust in the closet. If I tried to wear one, I would melt, which breaks my heart because I am obsessed with flannels. The Coach fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection brings out a rad interpretation of the grunge style. With the addition of leather bottoms and plaid patterns I knew I could pull a look together and make it my own.

Since Florida decided it needed to rain nonstop for about two weeks, I had a chance to finally wear a flannel. That’s about the only time it would be acceptable in the summer. I wore a bright red flannel with the sleeves slightly rolled up. To continue with the theme of the Coach fashion show, I added some paneled pleather leggings. Full grunge isn’t my style, but the little addition of pleather is just enough. Then due to the flooding, rain boots were a necessity. My choice of rain boots are plain black ones. They go with everything, making them versatile. Then, as a side note, wearing your hair in a messy ponytail is my personal preference for rain. There is no worry that the rain will mess your hair up. If anything, you redo the ponytail and you are good to go. This whole look is so simple, yet so cute. I’m a big fan of wearing simple pieces. Sometimes less is more, and I’m so glad I get to experiment with the ’90s fashion.

Get My Look: 1. A flannel. 2. Black rain boots. 3. Pleather leggings.
