STYLE GURU STYLE: Texture, Texture, Texture

Céline’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show was a beautiful collection of monochromatic looks that mixed textures to create a sensation of daring, wild pieces that are perfect for the street. She used everyday staples that everyone has in their closet—a great trench coat, a favorite maxi dress—and turned them into beautiful, fresh designs that had everyone eager for more. By using classic silhouettes resembling those of the ‘50s, Céline juxtaposed modern and vintage styles to create a beautiful new line that has me excited for spring.

After seeing this beautiful show, I knew I had to see how I could fit it into my wardrobe. What really inspired me was how she fused multiple textures while maintaining a classic shape to the look. I have always been wary of combining too many different types of fabrics into my outfits, but this time I tried to combine all that I had together.
While I normally stick to just black, I knew this was my time to join what colors I did have together. Pairing a white woven pullover with a leather skater skirt, I tried to resemble the classic shape while contrasting the quilted texture with the smooth black of the skirt. The bold red jacket pulled the look together while adding even more texture, combining Céline’s love of outerwear with texture to create what is described as “Work and play in one artful package.” While wearing black and white underneath, it sets off the color of the jacket to make it an even bigger statement. Adding a great bag and hat finishes the look to create my version of the line.

Get My Look: 1.The classic pullover sweater. 2. An amazing black skirt. 3. A killer jacket. 4. The perfect bag.
