STYLE GURU STYLE: T-shirts and Tennies

What’s better than T-shirt dress you ask? The answer is nothing, nothing is better than a t-shirt dress. Maybe it’s because you don’t have to wear pants, or maybe it’s because you feel like you’re getting away with wearing your jammies in public. All of these are great and very valid reasons, but my favorite reason is the versatility the piece adds to a closet. Pair it with heels to dress it up, or adds some sneakers for a more casual outfit. Either way, you’ll be rocking that effortless ‘cool girl’ look.

Yohji Yamamoto’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection gave me major inspiration for this look. When I saw sneakers paired with high-fashion designs I could not have fallen more in love. His clothing designs in this runway show are effortlessly draped over the models and then paired with super structured sneakers.

I played off this style with my outfit by pairing the unstructured T-shirt dress with the rigid design of my favorite Adidas sneakers. I made it more casual by sticking to a neutral color palate rather than the all black shown in Yamamoto’s show. I also added a bomber jacket to this outfit just to spice it up a little. The pop of bright blue on the inside of the jacket adds some extra pizazz to the otherwise neutral tones.

This look combines all of my favorite things. I am super comfortable, I look trendy and I don’t have to wear pants. There’s honestly nothing more I could want in an outfit.
