STYLE GURU STYLE: Sugar and Spice

My favorite colors to wear are black, black and…black. There’s something about this classic color that gives me an added boost of confidence. It makes me feel sophisticated, safe and empowered depending on the garment. When describing my style, I would say I have an extremely feminine presence in my wardrobe. Combining these style extremes in one look is my idea of fashion bliss.

Taking inspiration from Rodarte fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I combined edgy black with sweet floral elements. This idea is reflected in the Rodarte collection due to the dark color palette embellished with flowers. It also contains a plethora of unique fabric combinations with the use of lace, leather, fur, mesh and silk. Bold chokers were used to accessorize the collection which were a contradiction against fragile fabrics.

My outfit includes a boho floral top by PPLA from a local boutique called, Forever Faithful. My lace-up heels by Gianni Bini add another girly touch to my look. The block heel style of the shoe adds stability and is currently trending everywhere! These two pieces play on my sweet, sensitive side. To spice things up, I chose to wear these ripped up jeans in black. Not only are these jeans extremely comfortable and stretchy, but they are also very flattering. They are definitely a staple piece in my closet. An ode to the ‘90s grunge trend is  by accessorizing with black chokers. Notice that one choker is floral lace while the other is metal beads and suede. These pieces reflect the edgier side of my closet and perhaps my dark side in general.
