STYLE GURU STYLE: Staying Tropicool

Summer vacations have always produced an ideal vision of sipping on daiquiri’s while tanning on a sandy beach. I have long associated the summer season with palm trees and pineapples. Proenza Schouler’s resort 2016 collection perfectly expressed the idea of classic summer prints. The designers mix simple colors with tropical prints to pay homage to the culture and landscape of Cuba.

The tropical prints found in this collection inspired me to create a look that mimicked the tropics while still adding my own personal flair to the ensemble. Even though I adored pairing the tropical prints with monochromatic colors, it was not the right choice for my summer wear. I opted to wear a brighter colored dress with a tropical print on it instead. Bright colors are ideal for summer clothing, as they pop nicely against a fresh tan.

I found my bright, tropical floral print dress at a boutique-like store in Miami, Florida. The high neckline and low back of the dress give the dress a flattering shaped dress. For accessories, I kept it simple with a delicate gold Hamsa necklace. I also added a few gold bracelets to complete my outfit. Brown gladiator sandals are the perfect shoe to complement this tropical look. The sandals are comfortable and keep your feet cool and comfortable under the hot summer rays.

Get My Look: 1. Any bright colored, printed dress. 2. Dainty gold jewelry, which is easy to find at inexpensive stores. 3. Sandals.
