STYLE GURU STYLE: Statement Coats

Florida isn’t really a place where you can rock a full length coat very often—and by not very often, I mean almost never. It’s hot here most of the time, but there are a few glorious months of cooler weather and it’s only natural that I take full fashion advantage of those when they arrive. Coats are a really amazing way to add a statement piece to an otherwise basic outfit. Inspired by that same concept on the Céline 2014 fall ready-to-wear runway, I knew I had to pair this blush pink coat with as many looks as possible this winter.

I’m loving basics lately, so I chose black, ripped jeans, my favorite Acne booties and a basic white T-shirt to complete my look. Add a simple silver bangle to the look and some reflective sunglasses, and you have the whole look. I love trendy pieces and classic style balancing each other and creating a look that isn’t too loud or in your face, but still effortlessly stylish. This is often a hard balance to achieve—especially if you’re dealing with the weird weather, like we often are in Gainesville.

Despite the hot and humid weather, I’ve been collecting statement coats over the past couple months because, let’s be honest, you can never have too many. I’ve already styled this blush pink coat to wear over a plaid mini dress and I can’t wait to experiment more with it (and other coats) in the coming months—as long as the weather allows me to, anyway!

Get My Look: 1. A blush coat. 2. Beige booties. 3. Unique reflective sunnies.
