STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Into Florals

I would like to think that “Spring Fever” is a legitimate condition. I don’t know about you, but when I think of spring fashion, I immediately think of the floral trend! There’s just something so rejuvenating about springtime; maybe it’s because everything’s in bloom! So, because I’ve been preparing my wardrobe for spring (and completely inspired by the absolutely stunning spring runway collections), I decided to do a STYLE GURU STYLE article on one of my favorite trends—floral print! Specifically from designer Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I created a look that was influenced by his beautiful use of delicate florals and youthful colors to infuse all the elements of springtime.

So, to get my floral print game on, I found some pieces that ended up working pretty well together. I chose a top with an interesting floral print (I found it at a thrift store close to campus!) and paired it accordingly with loose, orange drawstring shorts. Keeping in mind that spring is also about fun colors, I tried to mimic the feeling of the season as best as I could. I completed my look with cute flats with tassels and minimalistic jewelry.

When playing around with floral print, it’s important to keep in mind that that’s the center piece, or the focal point, of your look. To draw as much attention to it as possible, a trick is to keep everything else simple. For example, if you wanted to rock a floral skirt, keep the top clean and simple. It’s all about flower power!

Get My Look: 1. A floral blouse. 2. Colorful shorts. 3. A minimalist bracelet.
