STYLE GURU STYLE: Sporty-Chic

Although I would say my aesthetic is typically more feminine and polished, there’s nothing like adding a sporty touch to your wardrobe to switch things up. Adopting the sporty, girl next door look is something I never would have naturally gravitated towards. However, after falling upon a spread in Teen Vogue, I easily feel in love with this laid back and casual style. It is the perfect look for a music festival or concert, replete with sun-protecting gear and ample skin bearing details for a fun and flirty flair.

Inspired by the chic-athletic feel of rag & bone’s 2016 resort collection, this cool and casual look says, “I can hang with the guys but I am definitely not one of them.” The ensemble includes a black skater skirt paired with a collared, button-down, polka-dot blouse. The blouse is composed of a denim-like material, making it appear more heavy duty. To give the look a lighter feel, I unbuttoned the blouse and tied it together at the waist. With my cream lace bandeau and exposed skin, this look is anything but masculine.

For the more sporty accents, I wore a simple baseball cap (Go Red Sox!) and a pair of Converse to allow for optimal mobility and activity throughout the day. I love to wear these caps backward to emulate that “bro” feel (I know it sounds pretentious, but you can’t deny its cool factor). Finally, in order to protect my eyes from the sun, I finished off the look with my always handy Ray-Bans. These shades add the perfect touch to the ensemble as their vintage shape helps tie the look together. Oversized or cat eye shades just wouldn’t make the cut (but rather, would stay on the bench).

Get My Look: 1. A sleeveless button-down. 2. A black skater skirt. 3. Your favorite baseball cap. 4. Vintage shades. 5. Converse.
