STYLE GURU STYLE: Socks and Heels

Socks are no longer embarrassing to be seen or meant to be mismatched last second under your sneakers. Manish Arora’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear show is one of the many runway shows to feature the sock and heel trend. The bright colors in the clothes and the sock and heel combination that is shown on the models inspired me to give it a try.

When your outfit just isn’t at its full potential, throw on a pair of fun socks with your heels to take your outfit to the next level. Socks are the new accessory that can turn a basic outfit into a chic ensemble. Since it’s summertime, go for some thin socks with bright colors. It might feel a little strange at first, but I’m convinced they make your heels easier to walk in. If socks will double the amount of steps you have left on your Friday night out before you end up barefoot on the street, then sign me up.

I took a pair of Free People orange and pink metallic socks and paired them with some Steve Madden python pointed-toe heels. I love mixing different textures and colors that you wouldn’t normally think to put together. With the bold statement of my feet, I wanted to tone it down for the rest of my look. I wore a breezy white button-up top giving off some Risky Business vibes, some Free People cut-offs underneath and threw on some Quay sunglasses because sunglasses make everything better. Whenever I’m picking out an outfit, I pick an item or element that I really want to focus on, and then I build my outfit around that, as I did with the socks. There are no rules in the world of fashion, so get out and rock those socks!

Get My Look: 1. Textured anklet socks. 2. Python heels. 3. White button-up.
