STYLE GURU STYLE: Skirts In Winter

Ever since I was little, I wasn’t a huge fan of pants. I’ve always found them restricting and love when I get the opportunity to wear skirts and dresses. Despite the January chill, today I decided to pair a fluffy cream colored sweater with a skater skirt after seeing the Tibi pre-fall 2015 collection. The line is full of sweaters and skirts of all cuts and colors. My favorites are the oversized sweaters paired with short skirts. There’s something enticing about the top half of an outfit having more fabric than the bottom half. The models wearing the collection looked so comfortable! I had to try it out for myself.

I embraced the femininity of my skirt and picked classy accessories to enhance my outfit. For jewelry, I wore a few layers of large pearls. My high-heeled boots are one of my favorite winter accessories because they add a classy touch to any outfit but provide plenty of ankle support while walking on slippery sidewalks. I finished off my feminine look with a glossy pink lip.

I appreciate collections like this because they are keeping the oversized sweater in style. These sweaters are a key part of my Wisconsin winter wardrobe. When I wear them, I feel like a blanket is giving me a day-long hug. However, pairing these sweaters with a skirt can get tricky if you want to tuck the sweater in. It’s important to find one that is a little more fitted at the bottom so there are no visible lumps of fabric underneath your skirt. Don’t let a little winter weather prevent you from wearing a skirt. Pairing it with a fuzzy winter sweater will give you all the style you need to warm your day.
