STYLE GURU STYLE: Simple In Suede

With spring fast approaching here in Columbia, it’s not a surprise that my outfit was inspired by the Michael Kors spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. This collection combines suede, lace and floral appliqués with a neutral color scheme to create a romantic, bohemian vibe. As we all know, Michael Kors is extremely well known for his purses that can be found hanging on almost every arm around campus. However, Michael Kors is definitely a top contender in the world of high fashion. And luckily for you, I’m going to tell you how to look like you just stepped off the runway from his latest spring ready-to-wear collection this season.

The awesome thing about styling your outfit from this collection is that there are so many colors to choose from that I know everyone has. Whites, blacks and browns are the main colors in his collection. However, he throws in a splash of red and blue every so often to give his collection a delicate pop of color.

For my outfit, I was specifically inspired by a perforated suede dress in his collection. Luckily, I had a brown suede dress of mine own to help me out. I decided to use black as the other color in my outfit to create a bold, crisp contrast to my softer toned dress. For shoes I went with my favorite combination of knee-high black socks and black booties. This is my go to when I want the look of knee-high boots without actually having to wear them. Genius, right? Finally, I added black accessories that incorporated fringe and embellishments to mimic Michael Kors’ similar pieces.

Overall, this is my favorite collection for spring because it is a perfect mix between a romantic bohemian style and a darker, more rugged bohemian style.

Get My Look: 1. A suede dress. 2. Knee-high boots. 3. Embellished cross-body bag.
