STYLE GURU STYLE: Shearling, Shearling, Shearling

The Burberry Prorsum pre-fall 2015 collection gives us a romantic, fairy-tale feel to an almost ancient fashion trend. Shearling and furs drape the models, adding lots of movement and bulk to the pieces. Suede and animal skins leave the entire line feeling almost primal. There’s something extremely beautiful about the rawness of the pieces. I was instantly consumed.

Regardless of the look you are hoping to achieve, there is something here for everyone: a grunge biker jacket, a romantic scarf, even the staple trench. I love the simplicity of the outfits beneath the outerwear. It brings all your attention to the forefront. The cream, lace dresses are perfect for winter gatherings. In my opinion, however, the coats really make this line exceptional.

In an effort to channel my inner tribal princess, I made the look my own. This weather is perfect for shearling – dry but brisk. The cozy feel of this jacket is ideal for walking across campus. The asymmetrical, bulk front leaves plenty of fabric to bundle up in. I kept the look underneath minimal (something I don’t often do). A pair of black leggings and a cozy black turtleneck did just the trick. Leggings are a staple in my wardrobe. This is somewhat frowned upon for our generation. I say, the more the better. Chic and comfortable – what more can you ask for? Zara has an amazing line that are high quality and won’t leave you looking like you just left the gym.

I threw on some heeled booties for a little something extra. These are the Jeffrey Campbell Lita Booties. They are so comfortable and perfect for a day out and about. They keep my look a bit dressier than the average college student, but not over the top.

Overall, I love the movement with this look. It has a very romantic feel.

Get My Look: 1. A bulky shearling jacket.  2. A simple turtleneck. 3. A pair of comfortable heeled booties.
