STYLE GURU STYLE: School Style

The back-to-school season is just around the corner. As sad as this phrase may make you feel, keep in mind that fall collections from many designers are just around the corner as well. With all these new, incredible pieces coming to surface within these next couple of weeks, it is going to be hard to resist splurging on the latest fashion trends.

I have taken inspiration from the Public School, pre-fall 2015 collection by designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne. These designers give us a preview of what we should expect in the fashion industry this fall, focusing on a sophisticated, chic way to look your best on campus. Some of my favorite pieces that I spotted included a simple pleated black skirt, a pair of fitted dress pants and the piece that I chose to include in my article, a shirt dress. These are perfect examples of staple items that you need to have in your wardrobe this school year.

In the collection, this article of clothing has a more dressed up appearance. I chose to take a more casual approach on this trend to transform it into a street style. As much as I love bright colors to help me make a bold statement, I decided to go with a darker color. I recently splurged on a pair of classic white Converse, and I was so excited to debut my new pride and joy with this fall-inspired outfit. The additional design on the sleeves of the dress doesn’t call for the necessity of additional accessories, so I decided to keep it as simple as possible. However, a statement necklace or bolder shoe choice wouldn’t be a bad risk to take.

Get My Look: 1. A shirt dress. 2. Converse. 3. A pair of aviators.
