STYLE GURU STYLE: Riding Red

This outfit is perfect for touring downtown. This look was inspired by the Moncler Gamme Rouge for its 2015 ready-to-wear fall collection. Although the show is reminiscent of a gloomy English countryside, I thought it would be fun to take the colors and use them for a summer look. I was mainly inspired by a red riding piece. I found that I could take the A-line shape of the coat and apply it to one of my dresses. I was even able to mimic the patent black of the boots in my Birkenstocks. Simplifying the look with accessories gave it a very simple touch.

Burgundy is very on-trend now, and the color is perfect for a hot day, as it is not too dark but still vibrant. I accented the look with some bright color blocking, adding a yellow and purple purse. Moncler’s outfits involve a subtle geometric theme with clean-cut pieces and plaid prints. I like how this idea was developed into my look in a much simpler way. There is a triangle cutout on the back of the dress, which matches with the rectangles and circle formed on the purse. It is just big enough to fit a laptop, and I kind of like the silver peaking out!

Since it was a hot day, I didn’t want to bog my self down with too many accessorize, so I added a couple of gold bangles to match my purse. I think bright colors can make an outfit just as interesting and eye-catching as one with a ton of accessories. My Birkenstocks added the final touch. These are the perfect shoes for summer, as they are incredibly comfortable and structured. I would recommend this patent black, even with a thicker strap, as they always stand out when you are wearing bright clothes in the summer!
