STYLE GURU STYLE: Resort To Valentino

As I have stated in a few of my past posts, I love when people mix up different styles to create a new look. With that being said, I freaked out when I stumbled upon Valentino’s resort 2016 collection. The whole collection is based off combining styles. They blend patterns, fabrics and textures; they even incorporate details like embroidery, feathers and beading. The result is stunning. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative directors, were able to come up with a slew of different outfits. With so many options available when you integrate styles, it’s no wonder there were over 80 different looks in the collection!

Some of my favorite designs in this collection were the delicate ones with intricate detail, not necessarily the big bold designs, although, they too were breathtaking. I took this into account when getting dressed and kept my outfit simple with a basic white blouse and minimal jewelry. Building off the combination of textures seen in the show, I thought this would be a great opportunity to break out my lace skirt. I shook things up a bit by wearing a wrap, which I normally don’t do. But I couldn’t pass up the tiny paisley print and tassels, so I knew I had to incorporate it somehow! I think it goes nicely with my bohemian necklace, too. I also gave a nod to Valentino with my oxford shoes that keep the outfit looking polished.

This runway show is full of so many different ideas that can be adopted into anyone’s outfit. For example, they show you how to pull off many embellishments in a tasteful way, a grunge take on bohemian clothing and the military trend while looking very put-together. If I ever need inspiration, I always find myself looking back to Valentino!
