This summer I have found myself drawn to ’70s and ’80s-inspired looks, especially wide leg pants and oversized sunglasses. Lightweight, loose fitting pieces have been perfect to wear in the blistering heat. They look great on all body types, making it easy for anyone to pull off a retro look!
Céline’s pre-fall 2016 Collection has been a recent inspiration for the look I have been going for. The over exaggerated, monochromatic collection included wide leg pants, oversized tunics and retro accessories. The rich color palette of beige, forest green, amber, burgundy and mint tied together the ’70s vibe. I love this collection because it is simple and doesn’t feature a lot of prints, yet it looks very put together and is strongly executed. My favorite pieces from this collection are the yellow wide leg trousers and the burgundy, long sleeved dress with scalloped detailing.
Céline’s collection was geared more toward cooler months, however I was able to recreate the eccentric aesthetic in a summer friendly way with a lighter color palette and lightweight fabrics. The main focal point of my outfit is a baby blue jumpsuit from Urban Outfitters. This jumpsuit is super lightweight, features an open back and has a gorgeous silver shimmer in the sun, which makes it perfect for hot weather!
To tie the outfit together without taking attention away from the jumpsuit, I wore white sandals from Forever 21, clear cat eye sunglasses from Urban Outfitters and a beige tote bag which I thrifted from my local Salvation Army. For jewelry, I kept it simple with silver hoop earrings from Francesca’s and a silver cuff bracelet.
This outfit is such a fun, easy way to rock ’70s trends! It can be worn as a cover up on the way to the beach, or out at night to dinner and a movie. Jumpsuits can be paired with just about any shoe as well, from sneakers to heels. This look will definitely carry on into the winter months, so investing in a jumpsuit (or two) and staple retro accessories is a must!
