STYLE GURU STYLE: Red Hot

During the summertime, I pretty much live in bright colored tops and high-waisted shorts. I tend to go for a chic yet casual look for my everyday summer looks because you never know where life may carry you, so you should always feel comfortable in what you are wearing. I also tend to switch up my style depending on my mood and based on whatever inspires me, whether it’s a celebrity’s outfit or a fashion show.

I felt especially inspired this week by Balmain’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. His line features pops of colors such as cobalt blue, red and yellow. Black was also a popular color in his line. The look that I took the most inspiration from was look 34. The model in this slide was wearing a fiery red and sheer jumpsuit. In my eyes, this look is absolute perfection and stands out. I took a cue from Balmain’s use of bright colors, and I decided to incorporate red into my outfit. Thanks to this collection, I just could not get the color red out of my head.

I decided to put a spin on the look by combining Balmain’s classy look with a tiny bit of casual and rocker-chic elements. My outfit contains the perfect blend of straw, polyester and denim. Overall, the unique materials created the perfect outfit that was very pleasing to the eye. My look is very unique and fun at the same time. I am wearing a red high-low Charlotte Russe camisole that is tucked into a pair of acid-washed high-waisted shorts that are from Forever 21. I completed this look with a wide brim floppy straw hat and a pair of black peep toe boots. The black boots helped dress up my look. I decided to take my look a bit further by adding a spiked necklace. The necklace gave my outfit a little more edge, as it has two rows of spikes.

The color red is definitely in this season. If you don’t like red, then any bright color will do. Bright colors are what summer is all about! My floppy straw hat and layered spike necklace were two unique touches that helped make my look stand out from the rest. My outfit is carefully balanced out and has a certain “flow” to it. I absolutely love this look.

Get My Look: 1. A wide brim floppy straw hat. 2. Any high-low camisole. 3. A pair of high-waisted shorts.
