STYLE GURU STYLE: Raised to Life

Who would’ve thought a plain white T-shirt and blue jeans would be raised to life with a simple statement necklace? As stated in my STYLE GURU BIO, I am usually not a big fan of accessories. However, today, I was taken aback.

From Tom Ford’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I was inspired to break out of my comfort zone and try something a little bit different as how he styled his looks. In Ford’s ready-to-wear collection, his prize-winning centerpieces were his uniquely designed necklaces that banded his models’ necks. Because his necklaces helped give an emphasis to the styles, his collection gave out a sophisticated and chic appearance. In addition, I enjoyed observing the different textures and patterns he included in his looks such as peplums and fringes and zig zags and mod-looking shapes.

Now, in order for me to imitate Ford’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection (though I may not be able to compare), I paired a white T-shirt with light-washed blue jeans. Then I layered on a green and navy plaid button-down and slipped on my nude Converse. Yes, you’re probably thinking, “How does this relate to Ford’s collection?” Likewise to Tom Ford, I banded my neck with a statement necklace that had coin-looking pieces that draped down my simple T-shirt. In addition, the last piece of accessory I decided to add to my look today was a simple ring that was encrusted with a pink bead.

I guess what I’ve learned from today’s look is that it never hurts to wear accessories, especially with a casual look.

Get My Look: 1. A bold statement necklace. 2. An oversized plaid button-down. 3. A simple white T-shirt. 4. Light-washed jeans. 5. A simple encrusted ring.
