Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen created a youthful modern and laid back collection in Elizabeth & James’ spring 2015 ready-to-wear runway show. The Olsens said they got a lot of the inspiration for this collection from their time spent on the West Coast, giving their clothes a casual feel. The collection showcases many patters like palm tree skirts and pants but also has many clean solid-colored outfits; the all-white and all-black outfits give off a clean fresh feeling that is great for the spring and summer seasons.
This collection gives off a laid back beach vide that relates a lot to my personal style. I loved how these looks where so fashionable yet looked like they could be worn to the beach or out around town. I took particular interest in look 21. I find myself frequently wearing outfits that resemble this look; loose printed pants and a solid tank top.
This look is so easy to be recreated, and it allows your own personal style to be shown with it. My recreation of this runway trend starts with a pair of printed harem pants; instead of going for the beach-inspired palm tree print from the runway look, I chose a tribal, bohemian print. I paired the pants with a white tank top similar to the model from the show to keep the look fresh and give it a summer feel. Another change I made was switching the black jacket for a black cocoon cardigan; I felt this made it more casual and a lot more comfortable! To continue with the laid back vibe featured in this collection, I paired this outfit with gray TOMS shoes.
The collection did not feature any jewelry and the models maintained a minimalist look. To change it up and add my own style to this trend, I added a long necklace and some bracelets. The West Coast beach-inspired collection features outfits ready for a day in the sun, so to finish off the look I wore a pair of black sunglasses.
