STYLE GURU STYLE: Pop of Fire

I’ll be the first to admit that my day-to-day outfit usually consists of a monochromatic ensemble with minimal accessories (and I’m sure many Fashionista/os can relate). There’s just something so effortlessly chic about keeping things simple. But of course, a Fashionista/o has to mix it up from time to time. In order to do so, I drew inspiration from the A.L.C. spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection.

A.L.C. always perfectly curates monochromatic looks from head-to-toe. It then makes it more fun to play with different patterns and lines to highlight certain pieces. However, A.L.C. will also mix in a bright fiery orange from time to time, which pairs seamlessly with your standard black or white outfit. I love the way this statement color looks with black as it adds a bold component to the outfit. Another reason I love this specific color is its level of distinction. When looking to add a pop of color to an outfit, most people gravitate towards yellow or red, but a bright orange is often overlooked when creating a standard wardrobe. Although trust me, you will not be overlooked when stepping out in this fabulous shade.

My outfit is, of course, quite simple underneath this statement button-up. I’m wearing a black slip dress and dressing it down with my old faithful Nike sneakers. My eye-catching button-up is Acne Studios. I found this gem at a sample sale and its 100 percent silk fabrication has me majorly obsessed. For accessories, I threw on some tortoise shell sunglasses to mix the hues of orange and black.

Get My Look: 1. A bold colored button-down. 2. A black slip dress. 3. Tortoise shell sunglasses.
