STYLE GURU STYLE: Playing in Petals

Sandy hair, tan skin, fun waterproof make up looks, bright colors and patterns that are sure to make a splash. That’s what this summer is all about; the trends are popping up everywhere.

Everyone seems to be all about bright colorful floral patterns and mixing them with contrasting textures and patterns. What can you not love about having an outfit that is just as fun as the summer? In my opinion this trend is even better with the motto “Go big or go home,” but it is a definite easy trend to incorporate in the slightest details as well. That’s why I love this trend so much, because it allows you to dictate how much you incorporate it into your own style.

I first saw this in Sao Paulo spring 2015 PatBo collection, where he mixed bright colors and intricate floral patterns with most commonly simple lace or color blocking. Now these runway looks might be a little bit overwhelming, but I definitely found a lot of inspiration and easy ways to incorporate this style into some every day looks.

I started out with picking a cute floral shirt that was loose fitting and lightweight so I wouldn’t get to hot in it out in the summer heat. I wanted to incorporate something a little bit different that would stand out, like Paulo does in his collection. Since I wanted the shirt to be the center of the outfit, I paired it with some loose fitting crème lace shorts to incorporate the neutral colors in the shirt as well as add some more texture. For my bold accessory I threw on my favorite navy floral necklace to up the floral trend as well as have another contrasting item stand out in the outfit. For the rest of the outfit I kept it nude and simple, just some wedges and some earrings and I was all set to go.

Get My Look: 1. Get a bright floral shirt. 2. Grab a neutral textured or patterned pair of shorts. 3. Throw in some simple floral jewelry.
