STYLE GURU STYLE: Peacoat With An Edge

January 16th, 2015 at 2:00am

The temperatures are really starting to drop in New York, and it’s imperative to stay warm but also look chic at the same time. All Fashionistas need the perfect coat to dress up or down. As I browsed style.com, I came across DKNY’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear line. This runway show spoke to me immediately because it appealed to my tomboy aesthetic. There was long parka jackets with fur trim hoods, long wool printed coats and extended varsity jackets. Donna Karen has to be one of my favorite designers because she makes cool and easy clothes that are wearable. This collection inspired me to recreate these runway looks using a jacket similar to ones shown in this line.

I paired my Kenneth Cole New York peacoat with my New York SoHo sweater from Brandy Melville. Usually, I would wear black jeans to create an all-black monochromatic look, but today I decided to step out my comfort zone and put on my blue boyfriend jeans from H&M. Next, I added my new Chelsea boots that I got on sale at Zara. Finally, I threw on my wool fedora and my faux leather satchel bag.

What I love about this peacoat is that it’s a classic piece with an edge because of the leather sleeves. This coat can be dressed down with jeans or even dressed up for a night out. It also has that oversized menswear look that I’m drawn to.

I hope that this post inspired you to find a classic coat with an edge!
