STYLE GURU STYLE: Pattern On Pattern

Floral and lace are probably patterns that you’ve been familiar with since 2010, but putting the individual pieces together into one outfit could be a little tricky. I love how versatile both prints can be. From casual to formal, both patterns can be worn for any occasion and during all seasons.

Different from your wardrobe floral basics, Anna Sui’s resort 2016 collection combines both lace and floral into one piece. The lace addition complements the floral pattern by highlighting the brighter and lighter colors of the floral print. The combination of these two busy prints produces a very bohemian vibe, which we have been seeing a lot in the summer and will continue to see more in the next few seasons in the fashion world. Both of these prints are timeless and look great on their own and when mixed together.

I was inspired by these two prints by carefully selecting a more neutral colored floral pattern fit and flare style dress. With the top of the dress tighter than the rest, it helps add shape to my outfit because the lace kimono has more of a straight edge. Because the rest of the outfit is so busy, I finished off the outfit with a simple pair of brown wedges and a simple mini shoulder bag with a cute pineapple design. This outfit is perfect for date night, casual outings, brunch or for classes. It is super simple to put together and is very comfortable!
