STYLE GURU STYLE: Oversized Over Everything

It is official: I am done with the cold weather. I never realized how much I disliked the cold until I had to walk around a college campus when it is only 10 degrees. Thankfully, Cincinnati has random days here and there during the winter, for which it will be in the 60’s and sunny. I take full advantage of those days by breaking out my favorite looks and pretending that it is spring time.

For this look, I decided to channel some of the pieces from the J.Crew spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Lately J.Crew has been receiving a lot of grief for trying to be too fashion-forward. This collection is a great move in the right direction for J.Crew because it gets right back to the classic pieces that everyone loves.

My favorite spring look that is in the collection is oversized button-downs. I love everything oversized, and the nice thing about button-downs are that they are not only comfortable but also extremely flattering if tucked into a pair of jeans or even a skirt.

Although J.Crew’s collection is filled with plaids and polka-dots, I decided to keep my outfit simple. This look features a white, oversized button-down that I paired with my ripped jeans. These jeans have to be my favorite purchase that I made last year. They are incredibly soft and they don’t continue to tear when you wash them. I also paired my outfit with black suede flats and my large, black tote. To add just a hint of color, I wore my blue tassel bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. Oversized button-down. 2. Ripped jeans. 3. Suede flats. 4. Black tote.
