STYLE GURU STYLE: Organically Structured

Phillip Lim’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear runway show was a feast for the eyes. The collection was a complete fusion of versatile organic, yet structured pieces. Each look was different but still added to the collective whole. The pieces are trendy but in a manner that is tasteful and refined. In addition, they give off the allure of urban living with the rigid and clean lines. What is evident in the collection is the depth and use of texture. Each look has myriad textures that work off the colors and patterns. Lim also adds whimsy to the pieces with his use of exaggerated piping and varying hemlines. As a whole, the show consisted of looks that appealed to every type of women, whether it be the edgy woman, a sophisticated Fashionista or the quintessential “it” girl.

I was genuinely surprised when I found myself fawning over Phillip Lim’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I tend to lean towards more neutral classic designs, and Lim’s collection was a far departure from that facet of design. I was drawn by the textural variation and the life that the texture supplied on the whole. I admired the very subtle earthy tone subliming the collection while still maintaining the edgy mindset. To achieve the merging of organic design and structure, I made my central piece a structured sporty jacket. Paired with the jacket, I wore J Brand tuxedo jeans, and Sam Edelman black booties. To incorporate the organic design element he employed, I used the same color for the jeans and booties to appear seamless and free.

Get My Look: 1.Sporty jacket. 2. Black booties. 3. Tuxedo jeans.
