STYLE GURU STYLE: Orange You Glad It’s Summertime?

It’s summertime Fashionistas/os! It’s time for popsicles and beach days while wearing a floppy hat. Finally we can drive with the windows down and eat ice cream cones that are the size of our heads. I always think that summer is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and rock some bright colors and prints.

Summertime in Boston can get pretty toasty, so I try and diverge from my usual monochromatic black wardrobe, by incorporating some lighter, brighter flowy pieces.  These bright orange shorts from Banana Republic are an amazing pop of color. They’re roomy and comfortable so you’re not trapped in hot denim all day. Pair the shorts with a white crop top with lace detail at the hem, and you’ve got a combo that will leave you cool in temperature and in style. I threw on my vintage denim jacket on top for an easy extra layer. Also, it helps when temperatures drop at night. The real standout piece of this outfit is the super cute beaded clutch which I bought from Primark for less than $10.  When I saw this it reminded me of the new Roberto Cavalli resort 2017 collection, because there were bright colors and kaleidoscope-inspired patterns. So, I thought it would pair perfectly with this colorful look.

I kept my makeup pretty simple but I found a bright lip to perfectly match my shorts. It’s one of my favorite YouTubers, Jenn Im, who has collaborated with Colorpop in the Jenn Ne Sais Quoi collection that includes the Jenneration X matte lipstick, and I’m officially obsessed. In fact, she filmed a flawless makeup tutorial on how to do various beauty looks with the entire collection. The lip matches the color of my shorts perfectly so it pulls the whole look together.

Get My Look: 1. Bright bottoms. 2.  Any lightweight top. 3. A statement bag.
