STYLE GURU STYLE: Office Skirts Outside of Offices

Let’s face it. None of us is getting any younger. Although I still throw on my favorite distressed band T-shirt and denim shorts on most summer days, more and more occasions have been arising that require a more office look. Naturally, other than my countless boots, scarves and shorts, I’m also slowly acquiring a collection of office skirts. Yes, office skirts, those knee-length, somewhat form-fitting but not body-con skirts that are perfect for office ladies.

The Chanel fall 2015 couture collection is a return to classics. The iconic Chanel look is slightly revamped with a more modern touch, adding more textures and hardening the silhouettes. With the entire outfit in the same color scheme, and an addition of a classy red lip, the entire collection epitomizes a professional and feminine woman.

I was inspired to play with my own office skirts. At the same time, I wanted to steer away from an entire matching suit set to tone down the stiffness. I wanted to give this look a more casual and summer-y spin. I based the outfit around my gray skirt. It is slightly thicker and more textured, keeping with the Chanel vibe. Instead of a matching jacket, which is not hot weather friendly at all, I opted for a minimalist white T-shirt. This still keeps the look monochromatic and classy but adds a younger and more relaxed energy. To tie the outfit together, I featured these white mules. They are super trendy but classy-looking, comfortable and conveniently add some height. They are the versatile items that make this look appropriate for both a day at work and a shopping date.
