STYLE GURU STYLE: Off to the Laces

When given the choice of dressing up or dressing down, I always pick dressing up. I think it’s fun to get all dolled up and girly. In the summer, however, I sometimes find it difficult. Whether it’s because more formal fabrics are too heavy or because it takes too much effort, I just felt like it took too much work to look feminine during the summer. That was until I discovered the beauty that was lace dresses. Not only do they look super cute, but they don’t weigh you down in the hot summer sun.

One designer that really emphasized the lace dress in their spring/summer 2015 ready-to-wear collection was Chloé. Their collection focused heavily on light, breezy dresses that were perfect for summer. I took inspiration from this collection for my outfit. I really enjoyed the easy-going femininity of the collection, which is the style I tend to go for in my day-to-day life.

By starting with a white lace dress, I had a blank canvas I could use to style my outfit around. I decided to go for a simple, bohemian look. Being from southern California, the easy-going bohemian style comes naturally.

To add more of a bohemian look, I chose some simple brown gladiator sandals, which I wear pretty much every day during the summer. I love these shoes because they are so versatile. They can take you from a day at the beach to a night out dancing.

For jewelry, I first started off with an amethyst pendant. I wanted a pop of color that wasn’t just from my hair. I think wearing a piece like this added another layer to this outfit. I really liked the contrast between the strength of the rock and the delicateness of the lace in the dress. After the necklace, I added a few bracelets. I think they made just enough of a statement without drawing too much attention away from the rest of the ensemble.

If you’re ever looking for a way to look hot without actually breaking a sweat, this is a look that is sure to be smoking

Get My Look: 1. A white lace dress. 2. Neutral colored gladiator sandals. 3. Some simple jewelry.
