STYLE GURU STYLE: Not So Classic Monochromatic

July 27th, 2015 at 2:10am

Lately, I have been drawing inspiration from a very pale or monochromatic color pallet. The dark days filled with rain and clouds seem to be never ending in my hometown. So naturally my days have been filled with an abundance of Pinteresting, coffee and online shopping. I have also spent quite a bit of time seeking inspiration from the shows on Style.com, and when I came across the Josh Goot resort 2016 collection I was immediately drawn to it!

When I started piecing together my look inspired by this collection I wanted to stick to the predominately white color palette. I also wanted to showcase the long simple lines that can be seen throughout the collection. I began by choosing a high slit blouse with a simple stipe pattern. I noticed that a lot of the looks in this collection incorporated the high slit trend that has been growing more and more popular as the summer continues. I paired the blouse with a classic pair of distressed denim shorts.

I wanted to keep the shoes and accessories simple in this look, but also add a pop of color. I decided to add a bohemian style necklace and a chunky pair of black and white color-block sandals. Finally, I wanted to integrate a pop of color into my look similar to the ones seen in the Josh Goot collection. To accomplish this I selected a kelly green cross-body. This added just the right amount of color without overpowering the simple color pallet.

The black and white combination is one that will always be popular; however, it can easily be modified to accomplish a wide variety of looks. Try playing with colors, metals, accessories and footwear to find your perfect look!
