STYLE GURU STYLE: New Heights

As I looked for inspiration for my upcoming CollegeFashionista post through the usual go-to online spots (aka Pinterest and Instagram, to name a few) I kept running into a signature piece. That being the over-the-knee boot. And after consulting the fashion bible, also known as Vogue, I learned that this will be a key footwear for the upcoming fall season. We can already see evidence of it in several runways including the Vetements fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection which features this specific type of boot in an array of colors and designs. Particularly the looks 17 and 18 in the slideshow allowed me to get some inspiration for my #ootd.

I must admit the look shown above is something I normally don’t wear, especially not for college. But given that I have the opportunity to break out of my comfort zone thanks to this rad internship, I figured why not? Despite this being a piece for the fall, I found a way to wear it now in the end of spring/beginning of summer.

Instead of covering up with a coat or a jacket the weather allowed for me to go for an H&M long sleeve orange blouse which I wore as a dress. In addition to the Nina over-the-knee black boots I also had an H&M black wool hat that allowed me to cover from the sun (and hide from any paparazzi confusing me for a shorter-than-usual model). Last but not least, no look is complete without a stylish bag. This time I picked a Forever 21 faux leather black tote.

Classic and minimal pieces that can be combined into so many other outfits? That is precisely what I look for when I search for additions to my closet. And this also shows that you don’t have to break the bank or wear all high-end pieces in your outfit in order to look like a million (fabulous) bucks.

Get My Look: 1. Over-The-Knee Black Boots. 2. Black Wool Hat. 3. Faux Leather Black Tote.
