STYLE GURU STYLE: Mystical Summer

I have been a huge fan of Nanette Lepore’s designs since exploring backstage for CollegeFashionista at her fall 2014 fashion show. I fell in love with the femininity driving her looks, while she played with structure and color to bring a unique collection to life. While enjoying that wonderful opportunity backstage, I also met Nanette’s daughter, Violet, who walks every show, hand-in-hand with her mom. For Nanette Lepore’s resort 2016 fashion show, Violet took center stage on her own and has become the face of her mother’s brand.

I was completely drawn in to Nanette Lepore’s collection. Between the mystical fairy-like designs and fabrics, to the gorgeous array of blues, purples and pinks, to the fabulous patterns and prints, I was inspired to recreate one of the looks. I wanted to capture the essence of the collection, and one part of Violet’s presentation that truly stood out to me was her neutral make-up with the addition of purple eye shadow. I began with a neutral lip and added on purple shadow to accentuate the romantic feel of the collection.

I loved the high necklines and lace detail in many of the looks, specifically in the embroidered and wispy blouses. I took on that piece with a white, summery crop top that featured a floral cutout down the front. I paired it with some high-waisted flare pants with a mix of purple and blue floral print. I thought the bottoms were a good representation of the paisley-esque, wide sleeved blouse in Nanette Lepore’s show. Finally, some necessary heels to keep the pants from dragging helped bring the look together.

Tousled hair and a few bracelets give you a “resort” feel and make you vacation-ready!

Get My Look: 1. A white, lacy blouse. 2. A pair of printed, wide-legged pants. 3. Some mystical purple eyeshadow.
