STYLE GURU STYLE: Mule It Over

Before summer, I found a pair of mules on sale and decided to take the ’90s plunge. Recalling the mule and heel hybrids in the Acne Studios spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I loved the thought of a slightly chunky shoe that still works in warm weather. The first day of my summer fashion internship, I felt a huge moment of fulfillment upon seeing all of the stylish employees wearing my shoes of choice. By pairing my mules with airy dresses, I’ve developed an easy outfit formula for work mornings and casual weekends alike.

Received as a birthday gift, my handkerchief dress has proved to be the perfect summer staple. A dress doesn’t have to be monochromatic or neutral to pair easily with lots of items. This dress works with classic additions like a denim jacket and sandals, but it also works with an edgy suede jacket and statement necklace.

For this occasion, a park picnic, I paired the dress with one gold bangle. The bohemian shape of the bracelet works perfectly with the whimsical pattern on the dress. With my trusty tote bag in tow, I would typically choose a pair of casual sandals for an outdoor day. These mules are a little more fashion-forward, but still just as easy. Believe it or not, they’re extremely comfortable with their thick heel. Plus, they slip on and off just as easily to fit an active, carefree day. It’s the perfect look!

Get My Look: 1. A breezy, geometric dress. 2. Simple leather mules. 3. One favorite bangle.
