STYLE GURU STYLE: Missed and Matched

The Nicole Miller pre-fall 2015 show was definitely an eye-catcher this season. With its cool bohemian vibe, very colorful palette and fun use of tapestry fabrics, what more could you ask for from this collection? What I really loved about this use of tapestries was the mixing of them in each look. Mixing prints can be kind of intimidating to try at first, but when they are done right, magic is made. My advice to when first trying this type of styling is to start simple. Start with mixing prints with the same colors, or pair one neutral print, whether in simplicity or color, with a print of more spontaneity.

I was inspired so much by this collection; I just had to try out mixing prints this week. I began slowly by mixing the print on my leggings with my headband. The leggings have this pastel, abstract floral print where the headband is a tan and black lace in a floral pattern. This was an effortless match because of the similarity between the two for being a floral print as well as having neutral colors in the headband.

With the leggings, I paired an oversized chambray shirt from Madewell. Then on my feet, I went with a black stacked heel ankle bootie. You can never go wrong with a stacked heel bootie! Lastly, I tied my look together with this blue to green fade statement necklace. So, start the new semester off with a bang and try out the mismatched style!

Get My Look:  1. A neutral printed headband. 2. Some must-have colorful and loud printed pants. 3. This classic black button-down top.
