STYLE GURU STYLE: Minimalist-Chic

When the word resort is mentioned, it brings to mind a ray of sunshine across the ocean, waves lapping along the beach as sunbathers enjoy their warm and sunny vacation. But for others, such as Italian fashion house MaxMara, a far different image comes to mind. A picture of the snowy slopes of a ski resort is the first thought, along with the clothing needed to accompany such an adventure. With its 2016 resort collection, MaxMara introduced a variety of subtle neutrals contrasted with bold prints and textures like leather and glitter. A very stylish vacation was alluded to, especially with all of the chic looks topped off with a fur trapper hat on the head of each model.

In order to enjoy such an icy trend, one must become a fan of the colder season, which I am certainly not. But even though I won’t be hitting the slopes anytime soon, I will still be wearing the trends seen in MaxMara’s runway show. To survive the cold weather, I rely on layers of warm, cozy sweaters to keep me warm. I found one in a gorgeous neutral tone with simple style lines which mirror those seen during the MaxMara show. I also admired the faux leather detailing seen in some of the looks and decided to pair the sweater with a pair of faux leather leggings. To accessorize a la MaxMara, a faux leather skinny belt was chosen and tied in a side knot to pull the outfit together. Keeping it simple but fashionable from head to toe, I opted a pair of minimalistic, all-black oxford heels.

Although I decided to skip the fur trapper hats, the outfit still assembled to create a simple, chic look that is perfect for the chilly weather. It’s uncomplicated yet warm and still looks pulled together, not to mention that it is super comfortable. If you’re trying to achieve an effortless look, this would be a great place to start.

Get My Look: 1. A sweater. 2. A skinny belt. 3. A pair of leggings.
