STYLE GURU STYLE: Military Flower Power

Neutral colors have always been my go-to when it comes to putting outfits together. Something about keeping the main pieces simple and then having pops of color with accessories seems to suit my style and reflect my personality perfectly. Whether with funky shoes or brightly colored jewelry pieces, there is always a way to change up an outfit by adding different accessories.

Lace has been a part of many fashion trends for a while now. From lace overlays to see-through lace pieces, there are countless ways lace can be worn. Military green is also a classic neutral color that can be paired with many colors ranging from tan to navy to purple. Whether it is a military jacket or even an army-green dress, there are many different ways lace and the green color can be incorporated together. Designer Chitose Abe creates the perfect combinations of both flower prints and lace with the olive green. In her spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, she creates many different pieces from dresses to shirts to skirts that are sure to fit everyone’s style.

I love the look of the lace and military greens paired together. It creates a mix of both feminine and powerful pieces to create a fun and different look. Here, I am wearing a tan lace mini skirt that I paired with a flowy three-quarter sleeved shirt. The casualness of the top balances out the lace in the skirt, making it more of a casual look. My Jeffrey Campbell wedges add the perfect amount of detail to the outfit without overwhelming the focus of the skirt. The wedges also have detailing that resemble the details within the lace skirt.  I decided to make the outfit more feminine by adding bold Kendra Scott earrings and a fun floppy hat. I kept the color scheme simple so that nothing was too crazy or overpowering. Keeping everything neutral is perfect for the summer months!
