STYLE GURU STYLE: Maxi(ed) Out

It’s officially summer ladies and gentlemen! Which means we are all searching for the best ways to stay cool and stylish in these high temperatures. Over the years I have discovered that the key to staying cool is finding light, airy fabrics. One of the most common outfit choices featuring light fabrics in the summer months is maxi dresses. Maxi dresses have been all over the runway for a while now but they dominated the 2017 resort wear collections. The best part of this trend is that they come in so many different styles and patterns; anyone can find one that fits their style.

Now, being on the shorter side I have tended to shy away from maxi dresses due to my irrational fear of them making me look even shorter. I put those thoughts aside after seeing them all over the runways and decided to give the summer trend a shot. I spotted a fun floral printed spaghetti strap maxi in the ZAC Zac Posen resort 2017 collection. I was not in love with the red tones but still wanted to mimic the fun floral look with a different color scheme.

I have been having daydreams of warm beaches and blue oceans so I opted for a floral print in various shades of blue to replicate the look. I decided to pair this Michael Kors maxi dress with a chambray button up for a more laid-back look. To continue with the laid-back vibe I chose some light brown sandals and simple silver and black accessories. In my opinion the best part of this look is the fact that it is so effortless and comfortable. There is nothing that beats a dress on a hot summer day, plus there is just something about a maxi dress look that makes me feel like my life is together!

So, seriously go find yourself a maxi dress that suits your style because they are everywhere this summer. This effortless, comfortable look will be yours in no time and you too, can feel like you have your life together (you can thank me later).
