STYLE GURU STYLE: Maxi-mize Your Style

When maxi dresses first became a trend, I never though I would hop on the bandwagon. I have much too short of legs to ever pull off the trend, I thought. In runway shows sure, the dress always look great on models because of their long legs accompanied by huge uncomfortable heels, but for me I found that if you want to rock a trend, you just have to keep looking until you find a version that works for you.

After what felt like a never ending search, I finally found a maxi dress that finally fit me. It instantly reminded me of look 21 shown in the Alexander McQueen resort 2016 collection. The various purples found in my maxi dress are very similar to the color in the floor length gown featured in the show, but like every runway trend I had to make it my own.

After finding the maxi dress, instead of adding a black jacket like the one featured in the runway look, I decided it was much too hot for an actual jacket. Instead, I decided to not add anything more clothing to the look and simply complete the look with various accessories. This maxi is the perfect length for my height, so I wanted to wear my favorite pair of sandals, which happen to be my platinum Jack Rogers. These are seriously the comfiest shoes ever. To complement the gold in the shoes I added a gold necklace, ring, and bracelets. Finally, to complete the look, I added a cross-body bag to carry everything I need.
