STYLE GURU STYLE: Marsala Takeover

After having the incredible experience of being in New York City for New York Fashion Week last month, I can most certainly say I learned a few things. Thoughts of, “I can’t believe I’m actually here” along with, “that water costs HOW much?!” crossed my mind continuously. Being able to see the trends for this upcoming fall up close and personal was the best part. After attending a number of fashion shows, there is a clear trend between all of the lines that is somewhat noticeable. This trend is the colors.

There was an immense amount of reds and blacks that I saw, but the most profound color was marsala. Marsala was selected as Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015. After looking through alice + olivia’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, it’s clear how designer Stacey Bendet put this famous color in the spotlight. alice + olivia’s newest line seems to put a more enchanted touch on the line’s usually glamorous vibes. They used the popular color in subtle sweaters and long coats.

Today, I put my Marsala into action. This darker color is perfect for today’s rainy weather. My jeans portray a slightly darker shade of Marsala along with the plaid in my incredibly comfortable scarf. I matched the jeans with some booties that I make sure are easy enough to walk around in. I kept the top easy with a simple white T-shirt.

Seeing all these new fashion lines that represent new trends make me excited to see how average stores are going to incorporate Marsala for the next seasons. Its subtly seductive shade will have you feeling trendy and fabulous.
