STYLE GURU STYLE: Maid For Prints

With summer officially kicking off, what better what to heat up your wardrobe than by mixing bold prints?  By mixing contrasting pieces, prints add a fun and festive flare to any look, whether it’s going to the mall or rocking out at a killer concert. Not really sure if you can pull of such a bold look? Don’ worry; sticking to a specific color scheme can help you avoid looking like a pre-school arts and craft project.

Inspired by Maid in Love’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I used complementing colors to coincide contrasting patterns just as Hande Çokrak did in her collection. I also used prints with graphic logos and designs to stick to the designers theme known for its mix between urban streetwear and pop art. By combining these two elements, I was able to pull off a tomboy glam look similar to the fall 2015 collection.

Mixing prints does not always have to be so colorful. Although there is no exact way to wear different prints, try to incorporate no more than three colors while mixing prints in your wardrobe. For this outfit, I stuck to different hues of blue with hints of dark green and neon. For my statement piece, I chose an oversized, sequineed graphic jersey from NASTY GAL to add a flare of pop art to my look. To give this outfit a balance, I paired the sequined top with a solid blue skirt from Forever 21. I chose to finish this outfit off by wrapping a blue and green plaid shirt around my waist as a belt to add another fun print. It also not helps this tomboy look less overwhelming by making it more form-fitting.

For accessories, I kept it simple with just a couple of gold rings for each hand. To add a pop of color to the overall look, I added a small neon clutch from Urban Outfitters. By sticking to a specific color scheme while mixing patterns, I was able to create a chic tomboy look now all I need is a runway.

Get My Look: 1. Sequined oversized shirt. 2. Solid color pencil skirt. 3. A plaid shirt.
