STYLE GURU STYLE: Loving Layers

Now, I know the last thing on anyone’s mind right now is this coming fall. Everyone I know, including myself, is so keen on the idea that spring is just around the corner. But, I just happened to take a peek at J.Crew’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection that just came out last week, and I just happened to fall in love with the idea of fall all over again.

Fringe is very prominent in the collection but is portrayed in more of a chic way compared to the usual bohemian feel. Another trend that caught my attention was the layering of sweaters over dresses. I admire the chicness and effortlessness of this look! I especially did in high school, where I found myself sporting this trend more often than not. I usually woke up with a mere twenty minutes before I had to rush to my first class, and a dress and sweater combo was cute and comfy.

I decided to get a jump-start on this trend since Nebraska is still experiencing some frosty weather, and I’m still experiencing late wake-up calls. I dressed up this all too familiar comfy look with some accessories. I love this doubled-faced watched I picked up at one of my favorite thrift stores. This watch brings an element of class to the overall boho feel of the outfit. To balance it back out, I doubled up with a braided rope bracelet.

My maxi dress was definitely made for the summer months, but layered with a sweater, it’s wintertime perfection. Imagine how wearing a blanket wrapped around you under a chunky sweater would feel like. I’d say extremely comfortable. These knee-high boots are perfectly paired with the dress for when the cold weather strikes. They provide much needed warmth to my legs. I topped the whole look off with a hat. What else would you top off anything with?

Get My Look: 1. A comfy sweater that is perfect for layering. 2. A blanket-inspired maxi dress. 3. A hat to top off the look.
