The eyes are the windows to the soul or so they say. However, with the new trend that has been super popular the last few seasons, mirrored sunglasses, you really can see yourself clearly. Alberta Ferretti’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection was full of multicolored embroidery and beautiful placed floral prints drawn from the designer’s inspiration from the south of Italy, but what really grabbed my attention was the eyewear.
After weeks of wearing my drab old sunglasses, I finally gave in and picked up a pair of colorful sunnies for myself. I decided to go for the retro-style sunglasses because I’ve always loved retro styles and they have also been a popular trend this year. What had hindered me from trying out the trend in the past was not knowing exactly how to style the bold accessory with my rest of my ensemble. So today, I kept the outfit simple so that the eyewear could really be the statement piece. I paired my heather gray, high-low midi dress, camel-colored felt wool hat and brown and gold gladiator sandals with the glasses, keeping the color scheme neutral so the bright-colored lenses could really stand out. To accessorize, I added just a couple of gold bangles and a small gold necklace to bring the whole outfit together.
Mirrored sunglasses have made a huge comeback this season and I couldn’t be more excited about it! The trend has been around for a few years but not until recently has it really made a statement. With all the color and style choices you have, the possibilities are endless when finding a pair that works with your ensemble. Nonetheless, even if you don’t find the perfect match these sunnies give a certain fun, youthful, rebellious attitude to your look no matter if you match or not!
