With Fashion Week in full swing, there are plenty of nods to new styles to look out for. So far, I’ve been focusing on the kate spade new york fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The whole collection was full of rosy, welcoming colors with a fresh take on florals. The outfits arranged in this year’s collection were all so put together, and so far, the kate spade collection is the one I’m the most interested in this season. The specific look that caught my attention features one of my favorite new trends: a black ribbon scarf.
It’s important to be updated on the latest trends when you’re going to school in one of the Fashion Capitals of Italy: Florence. Every day on my way to class, I scan the streets for the new looks that are becoming popular. I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that everyone on the streets is wearing the same black ribbon scarf as the one in the kate spade collection. I’ve seen everyone from models to fashion bloggers incorporating the trend into their own style. It’s only a matter of time until the rest of the world catches on.
I translated this look in my own wardrobe by wearing my black fur coat, jeans, black loafers and a maroon tank top. The ripped jeans in my outfit helped add a casual twist to the look. That way, I can wear this look on a regular basis, like to class or on a quick trip to get a chocolate croissant and cappuccino. The fur coat that I’m wearing assimilates perfectly into the high-class fashion of Florentines, who wear faux or real fur casually on a walk around the city. There aren’t very many opportunities in Florence to dress down, as everyone on the streets is always dressed as if they were ready to walk down the runway.
