STYLE GURU STYLE: Let’s Get Graphic

If you like wearing sweatshirts and sneakers—this is the look for you. Being a college student, I am an advocate for being comfortable, trendy and wearing layers. Living in State College, Pennsylvania, the weather can go from sunny and 60 degrees in the morning to snowing and cold in the afternoon. Because of this, I love to make sure that I have a couple of layers on so I can easily switch up my look. This look covers all three goals that I try to achieve with my outfits as a college student. My favorite part about this look is the graphic sweatshirt. This outfit is similar to an Anthony Vaccarello runway look from his spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Anthony Vaccarello’s collection included sleeveless jackets, sharp cut leather and button-down shirts. My favorite outfits in this collection encompassed graphic T-shirts and sweatshirts. I tried to mimic this trend by throwing my favorite graphic sweatshirt over a simple plaid button-down shirt. I tossed a leather jacket over my shoulder to add some contrast and another layer to this outfit. Vaccarello’s collection includes a lot of mixing of textures, which really adds depth to a casual outfit.

I made my look more wearable by adding a pair of snakeskin sneakers and some reflective Quay sunglasses. Instead of wearing a skirt, I grabbed my go-to black jeans from TopShop. The great part about this outfit is you can wear any kind of bottoms you want. A cute leather skirt, as shown in Vaccarello’s collection, would dress up the outfit, but you could also wear a pair of boyfriend jeans to make the outfit even more casual.

I paired my look with a fringe cross-body bag to add even more contrast. In addition to the bag, I’m wearing a few rings and my favorite Michael Kors watch. Although I added all these accessories, the graphic sweatshirt is still the star of the outfit.

Clothing that includes graphics is a trend that’ll always be in style. A graphic can spice up any outfit and they are staples in my wardrobe. Some tips to keep in mind next time you throw on a graphic T-shirt or sweatshirt are to add different textures, mix some fun patterns underneath and throw on a few simple accessories.

Get My Look: 1. A graphic sweatshirt. 2. A leather jacket. 3. Fashionable sneakers.
