STYLE GURU STYLE: Leather, Meet Jean

March 11th, 2015 at 2:00am

I have never been so glued to my phone than in the past week, and it’s all thanks to Fashion Week. My Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter feed included many runway favorites and had me obsessed over the latest looks. Oh, how I wished to fly to New York. I fell in love with McQ Alexander McQueen’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The pieces were great everyday looks that included styles from layering to leather. He also introduced a silver-looking material that caught the attention of a lot of people because of its unique texture. What stood out to me the most was the leather and jean ensemble that provided an edgy vibe. Although my usual look is a lot more feminine, I felt inspired by this show and embraced the leather jacket.

While the original look has me wishing the weather was 30 degrees cooler here, with a black turtleneck sweater and some booties, I opted for a more weather-appropriate look. I chose to incorporate the high-waisted jean, featured in the look, but in a boyfriend style. This type of jean can easily be mistaken as the mom jean; however, when styled right, it can be a personal favorite. Despite the fact that black booties are my go-to, I decided to complement the look with a chunky, neutral sandal. I paired the jeans with a black, rose-printed crop top and found my inner biker girl with a quilted, leather jacket.

I found the simplicity of McQueen’s collection something to appreciate. Although I love over the top, runway looks, not all collections need that, and that’s what makes me love McQueen’s. You will definitely see me incorporate more of McQueen’s looks in my wardrobe!

Get My Look: 1. A pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. 2. An edgy leather jacket. 3. A chunky pair of sandals.
