STYLE GURU STYLE: Layered in Leather

It’s getting colder here at the University of Oregon and while it feels so natural to slip into my beloved yoga pants, I have vowed to maintain some sense of style while out and about. I was recently inspired by Burberry’s spring 2015 runway looks which featured many well tailored jackets ranging from several textures. Burberry proves that spring is all about properly layering to navigate chilly mornings and a pop of warm sunshine in the afternoon. As the temperatures drop, I love layering my wardrobe as I move from chilly temperatures outdoors to warm classrooms where the heater is being pushed to its limits. Layering coats is also the most stylish way to stay warm during the coldest months of the year. Rather than opting for cotton sweatshirts and yoga pants, I chose to maintain my Fashionista status with a touch of leather.

As inspired by Burberry’s spring collection look, I paired a tailored and fleece-lined leather jacket with a long sleeve white top to keep warm but stay stylish. I love leather jackets in the winter because of the unique texture and versatility. The simple body of the jacket can be paired with crop tops, zip-up hoodies or a bold printed top for extra flair in dark winter months. I decided to pair it with a white top and distressed denim for a tied together grungy look. Lastly, these black booties are some of the most practical shoes that I own. Not only do they completely dress up the look, they can be worn with anything and are totally comfortable.

If you want to get more adventurous, follow Burberry’s lead with this trend and rock a corduroy or denim tailored jacket this winter and spring. These waist-length and tailored jackets are the perfect way to stay chic during the winter.
