STYLE GURU STYLE: Laid Back Kind of Style

I got my inspiration for this outfit from the Vetements spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. I am a firm believer that hoodies, in fact, can be cute and fashionable. It’s hard to want to dress nice when you wake up for your 8:00 a.m. class, but having a cute hoodie handy makes waking up late and looking good a little bit easier. I love the contrast of the leather paired with cotton in this collection. Knee-high boots were also a staple on the runway, turning any boring outfit chic in an instant. Dressing up did not seem as apparent this season and the laid back look is what the designers seemed to be going for this spring.

I decided to interpret this runway look into my own outfit and this is what I came up with. I thought that the contrast of textures would work perfectly for this laid back look. The leather leggings and boots I wore transition this outfit from drab to fab. Denim can make a cotton sweatshirt look lazy, but adding a texture, such as leather, gives the outfit a little more sophistication. The long coat ties it all in; the color brings out the warm tone of the sweatshirt and shows a more exaggerated contrast of the leggings. Lastly, I decided to layer the sweatshirt with a long white shirt underneath for a few reasons. One being I did not want to freeze, as it is still pretty chilly in Ohio, and another being that I wanted to add more definition to the outfit. By putting a white layer in between the leggings and the sweatshirt, I was able to create a contrast, which allowed the two pieces to pop more. The best thing about this outfit, however, is that it is super comfortable and can be worn anywhere from lounging at home to going out for a casual dinner with friends.

Get My Look: 1. A hooded sweatshirt. 2. A pair of leather pants. 3. Knee-high boots. 4. A long coat.
