STYLE GURU STYLE: Lace-Up

Nothing screams summer to me like white lace. Some people might think that white lace only works for brides on their special day, but that’s not the case. Recently, I came across some images from Alberta Ferretti’s runway collection from earlier this year, and I fell in love with the inclusion of white lace—especially this dress. It instantly made me think of sunshine, sweet tea and the ocean breeze. Lace brings a romantic chicness to any look, so I was extremely excited to play around with it.

Unfortunately, I’m still on the hunt for that perfect lace top (I’ll let you know when I find one). However, I did find this Brandy Melville cotton crotchet top and I found it to be the perfect dupe for lace. This type of crochet achieves the same dainty feminine look that’s perfect for summer.

The best thing about lace (or crotchet) is that you can dress it up or keep it super casual. I chose to keep it casual and pair it with high waisted shorts and simple rose gold jewelry. To add a sporty touch to the ultra-feminine crotchet, I decided to add a baseball cap (which also helped protect my face from the summer sun) and white Converse All-Stars. This allowed me to stay comfortable, while still looking stylish and chic, which is the perfect combination when facing 90 degree weather. This shows that it’s incredibly easy and fun to be inspired by the runway but still give your outfit your own personal touch. Overall, I’m very pleased with the results of putting these pieces together, and I can’t wait to continue playing around with lace throughout the summer.

Get My Look: 1. Any white lace/crotchet top. 2. A baseball cap. 3. A feminine watch.
