STYLE GURU STYLE: Lace It Up

It is crazy and surreal to say that my college career has finally come to a close. I have learned the ins and outs of fashion since day one at Johnson & Wales University, and will never take any of it for granted. Throughout my classes it was crucial to learn how to scope out the latest and greatest fashion trends of the current and upcoming seasons. My go-to place to search for the biggest and most outrageous trends, is the one and only Vogue.

Gracing the runway of New York Fashion Week, Valentino’s ready-to-wear spring 2016 collection, blew my mind and had me drooling for more. This anything but ordinary line was filled with dark neutral and earthy tones, simplistic low cut shift dresses and radiant ornate fringed trims. The line ranged from everyday pieces to extraordinary cocktail style dresses for the fashion-forward. For women ready to take world by storm, while turning heads.

One of the most prominent trends of the season was plastered over social media and retail establishments across the globe, making it the perfect accessory to take the average top from a “ow” to a “wow!” The lace-up, anything and everything. This refined trend adds a feminine sexy ‘70s bohemian vibe to your wardrobe.

I incorporated this fun lace-up style by wearing my favorite brown suede lace-up dress with lace trim, black lace wedges, a sculptural designer tote bag, simple gold bracelet, teal stone wire gold bangle and beaded headband. I enjoy incorporating and mixing textures in most of my outfits. This look in particular creates a boho-chic look, which speaks to my soul with flirtatious femininity. The buttery feel of suede and the succulence of the lace, makes for a perfect combination of fluid texture and comfort. For followers of the bohemian way, this look should be added to your “gotta have it” list.
