Whether you love him, hate him or love to hate him, there is no denying that Kanye West kills it in the fashion world. Through innovation and risk, he is constantly changing up the game, so it was no surprise that the Kanye West x adidas Originals fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was a distinctive display of such. While I cannot say that I completely understand the collection (as with most things involving him), I am intrigued by it nonetheless. The show presented models predominantly in nude tights with gray, green or black tops of some kind. As the models marched out in rows like that of military ranks, it was clear that this was the key concept to the collection; a mix of savagery and sweetness.
I am all about mixing hard, edgy pieces with softer details, so I was definitely drawn to this collection; I took the military concept and made it military-chic. I did this by starting with the basic; a camouflage T-shirt. I paired this with a leather skort, which is something I haven’t worn since my preschool days—cannot say that I’m mad about the comeback. The cut, color and texture of this skort further give off the hard edgy feel that is necessary for the look. To take my outfit from military to military-chic, I added a few pieces of statement jewelry, a pair of oversized sunglasses and pink lipstick. Now, since I don’t have a pair of the Yeezy Boosts that were showcased in the collection, I wore a pair of black booties that are roughed up just enough to go with my military ensemble.
