STYLE GURU STYLE: Kimono Cutie

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection by BCBGMAXAZRIA was muted, modern and magical. The models seemed to float down the runway in airy fabrics and neutral colors. From gorgeous silk slips and chiffon blouses to flowing skirts and kimonos, this collection was a breath of fresh air on the runway. While the simplistic silhouettes and clean colors of the collection were breathtaking, it was the floral print and soft pastel pieces that caught my eye and kept my attention.

Inspired by the runway (and the heat of the summer), I opted for a kimono in a neutral color with a floral print. The word kimono literally means a “thing to wear,” which makes it perfect for an on the go look. Kimonos are also a great wardrobe addition because of their versatility. They can be dressed up with a body con dress and fun heels for a girl’s night out or dressed down with a tank top and high-waisted shorts like I have done. They also function as a light and airy beach cover-up.

I loved the neutral colors that were showcased in the collection, completing my runway-inspired look with a pair of nude sandals with gold details and a nude handbag. I kept my makeup fresh and natural, inspired by the “no makeup” makeup trend and threw my hair into a messy bun to combat the heat and humidity of summer. While temperatures may have been hot, my look was as easy, breezy and cool as the collection by BCBGMAXAZRIA.

Get My Look: 1. A floral print kimono. 2. A pair of high-waisted shorts. 3. A pair of nude sandals.
